Saturday mud.Saturday morning we woke up to the sound of a down poor to say the least. Wasn't to cold, but damn was it wet out there! We got on one of the first shuttles, to fine anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of coastal poop mud. Once the worry of trying to stay dry and clean was soon out of the way, it was some of the funnest riding of my life! It was the first test of the Demo in mud like this and man was I impressed! The thing hooked up like it was on rails! The day way way to rad!
Me Alex and Nik, our faces tell it all!Race day came around and I was feeling pretty confident. We got there and did one practise run to warm up. In between the end of practice and my start time it pored rain adding to the mud even more! The trace was in the worse possible condition by the time of race run but it was go time. I drooped in, hit all of my lines on the rocky steep part of the coarse. Once I got in to the jump section it was really hard to get speed through this muck. On the longest gap of the course, I wasn't able to get enough speed to clear the gap I was able to clear 2 hours earlier. In result of this I ended up being ejected OTB, through the air to the rock landing. I smacked my head pretty hard and hit my arms good. I draged myself off the trail, and puked. It made me really mad not to be able to finish the race. But that's racing! The first aid came down and gave me the hole trail side treatment for about half an hour. Turns out i have a minor concussion. No worries, I'm resting it off and will be on the bike in no time!
